It may be close to 100 degrees most days and the only attention brought to large pine trees recently is when they tear down power lines during a severe summer storm, but it's time to think about Christmas in July.

With Christmas less than six months away, the City of York is searching for it's next large Christmas tree that will frame the season on Continental Square for the holiday season.

The process is a win for the property owner as the tree is removed at no cost, usually lifted by crane in one piece.

If you have a spruce tree over 30 feet tall that you believe would be ideal, please contact Carol Godfrey at (717) 845-9351 with your name, address and phone number.

This year people will gather for the lighting of the tree on Friday, Dec. 6, kicking off the holiday season as part of York’s annual Light Up York celebration.
