UPPER ALLEN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) — Midstate little leaguers are going to a world series tournament.

Central York’s 10U All-Star Team and their counterparts from Upper Allen Township in Cumberland County will head to Indiana next month in the C al Ripken League World Series. The two teams will be the only ones representing all of Pennsylvania.

“I think this team is special because of the camaraderie that we show,” said Matt Roth, Head Coach of the Central York All-Stars. “Our family members are fully bought in and the sky’s really the limit for this team.”

When asked about his mindset and approach to the World Series, All-Star Patrick Sosar said, “You’re going to play baseball like you always have. Do your best and see what happens next.”

Another All-Star, Jase Matthews, added “I mean, it’s cool. We haven’t ever done that before, so it’s once-in-a-lifetime, maybe.”

This is the first time Central York has advanced to this level, as 25 teams from all over the world will compete in Indiana. This tournament is hosted by the Cal Ripken League, not to be confused with the Little League World Series for older kids in Williamsport.
