Hot start keeps Post 43 Juniors alive in state tournament
NEWBERRY – A hot start by Fort Mill Post 43 led to a 5-3 win over Golden Strip Post 271 to stay alive in the American Legion Juniors State Tournament at Newberry College. Golden Strip didn’t waste any time scoring a run in the top of the first. Post 43’s pitching struggles started early. A Fort Mill error loaded the bases for Post 271 and then a bunt single scored another run for them.
Employee charged with stealing SC DMV funds
A Camden woman faces a felony charge for allegedly using state computers to steal thousands of dollars while working for the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. SLED agents arrested Julia Haley Baker, 22. She was charged with computer crime in the first degree and booked at the Kershaw County Detention Center and will be prosecuted by the Fifth Circuit Solicitor's Office. If convicted, she could be fined up to $50,000 and/or sentenced to up to five years in prison.
