Boy Scouts from Yorktown Troop 250 participated in a series of hikes between August 11 – 14, 1969 to complete the requirements for the Hiking Merit Badge and the Historic Trails Award. Following three days of hiking they reached Goliad on Thursday where they toured Goliad State Park and Mission Presidio LaBahia. In addition, the Boy Scouts spent Thursday night inside the historic mission. On Friday, the Scouts returned to Yorktown on a single all-day hike. Scouts participating in the hike were Russell and Stephen Blaschke, Marcus Gohlke, Mark and Craig Janssen, Kurt Lemke, Johnny Lott and Stuart Schroeder. Assistant Scoutmaster Arlon Schroeder led the hike. Also hiking on portions of the trip were Quinton Blaschke and Michael Janssen.
