An Olney woman involved in a two-vehicle, head-on collision in Young County in September 2023 was indicted recently for intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle.

The grand jury indictment states that Johhana Delira, 20, of Olney, on Sept. 1, 2023, operated a motor vehicle while intoxicated and caused the death of Codey Henderson, 19, of Wichita Falls, by accident or mistake by driving on the wrong side of the road and striking another vehicle.

The wreck occurred at 6:08 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1 on Hwy. 16, approximately 9.5 miles south of Loving, according to a release from Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Juan Gutierrez.

Henderson was pronounced dead on the scene due to injuries sustained in the wreck.

A preliminary DPS investigation revealed a 2007 Ford Mustang, driven by Delira, was traveling northwest on Hwy. 16 while a 2004 Freightliner CL1 towing a 2015 Manac Belly Dump trailer, driven by Brian Ledel Corbett, 48, of Graham, was traveling southeast on the same highway.

Delira failed to drive in a single lane, crossed the center stripe into oncoming traffic and both vehicles struck head-on. Henderson, who was a passenger in the vehicle with Delira, was not wearing a seatbelt during the wreck.

Delira was also not wearing a seatbelt. She was injured in the wreck and transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth with undisclosed injuries.

Corbett was wearing a seatbelt during the collision and was not injured.

Delira was arrested Friday, Feb. 9 and booked into the Young County Jail on a bond of $25,000 for the charges of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and terroristic threat.
