Buffalo Man Receives Maximum Sentence for Fatally Stabbing Woman Inside Her Apartment
(WNY News Now) – Buffalo, NY – Otis L. Johnson Jr., 46, was sentenced to 25 years in prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision for the fatal stabbing of Katherine Crofton, 56, in her Buffalo apartment. The sentencing was handed down this morning by Erie County Court Judge Suzanne Maxwell Barnes, with Johnson classified as a second felony offender.

Randolph Postal Employee Arrested for Stealing Gift Cards from Mail
(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced the arrest of Melissa Olson, 45, of Randolph, NY, on charges of theft of mail by an officer or employee. Olson, a rural carrier associate for the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) assigned to the Randolph Post Office, faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.
Eighteen Mile Creek proposed clean up plan, community comments welcome
NEW YORK — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency proposed a new cleanup plan on Friday for a portion of the Eighteen Mile Creek Superfund site in Niagara County. The EPA is asking the public to comment on the plan starting Friday, July 19 until August 19. EPA will host a public meeting at Newfane Townhall located at 2737 Main Street, Newfane, on August 1 at 6 p.m.
