Penguins softball player Sophie Howell named YSU Scholar Athlete

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — YSU senior Sophie Howell earned her 23rd win of the season last week, breaking the single-season school record.

The Champion grad now has 50 wins in her career becoming just the third player in school history to record at least 50 wins and 500 career strikeouts.

As a team, YSU tied a school record with 36 wins during the regular season and will serve as the number one seed in this weekend’s Horizon League Tournament.
