Youngstown police were called to a convenience store in the 2900 block of Market Street just before 10 p.m. Thursday for reports of a stolen vehicle.

The owner of the vehicle told police he had just gotten in his car and started it when a friend pulled up two spots over. He got out to talk to his friend, leaving it running.

While they were talking, the theft victim said an unknown man ran across the parking lot and jumped into his running car, reports state.

The man told police he attempted to grab the suspect through the car window, but the thief put the car in reverse and fled south down Market Street, according to reports.

No suspect has been identified at this time.
