    Youngstown police investigating after man shot in leg at West Side home

    YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Detectives are investigating after a man was found Monday afternoon with a gunshot wound in a West Side home.

    Police were called about 4:30 p.m. to a home on North Hazelwood Avenue, where they found a man bleeding from a gunshot wound to his lower leg.

    Officers put a tourniquet on the wound and an ambulance arrived and took the victim to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

    Reports said police found blood in the living room where the victim was found and on the front porch. A spent shell casing was found in the driveway.

    So far this year, 31 people have been shot in Youngstown. Last year at this time, 26 people were shot. The city saw a total of 72 people shot last year.
