YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Some local businesses have already been approved to sell recreational marijuana in Ohio.

Dual-use applications were accepted beginning June 7. At this time, dual-use licenses are only being approved for those businesses that already have a medical marijuana license and submitted an application for a dual-use license.

Some municipalities have already taken steps to restrict or pause recreational sales within their jurisdictions.

The Ohio Division of Cannabis Control is overseeing recreational marijuana in the state. It had set a date of mid-June to begin license approval and ultimately the retail sale of marijuana, but that has yet to happen.

Getting license approval doesn’t mean a business can immediately start selling recreationally. There are other state guidelines that must be met when it comes to personnel, training and other mandates. The rule-making process for recreational marijuana is ongoing.

In Mahoning County, the following businesses are listed as having a dual-use provisional license: (As of June 25, 2024)

    • Riveria Creek Holdings LLC, 1275 Crescent St., Youngstown – Dual-use cultivator
    • Quest Wellness Ohio II, LLC, 4323 Market St., Youngstown – Dual-use dispensary
    • Riveria Creek Holdings II, LLC, 1275 Crescent St., Youngstown – Dual-use processor

In Trumbull County: (As of June 25, 2024)

    • B Cubed Operations Ohio, LLC, 437 E. Liberty St., Hubbard – Dual-use dispensary

No dual-use licenses have been approved yet in Columbiana County as of June 25, 2024.

The licensing approval process is ongoing.
