YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A man accused of dragging a woman who was hanging onto his car earlier this year was indicted Thursday by a Mahoning County grand jury.

Craig Washington, 31, was charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Washington is expected to be arraigned sometime next month. He is free on $50,000 bond, which was set when he was arraigned in municipal court.

Washington was arrested early April 20 , after reports said police at about 12:55 a.m. were on Commerce Street in front of a bar for crowd control when they heard a commotion and then saw a woman standing beside a car in a nearby parking lot.

The car then pulled out of the lot at a high rate of speed with the woman still hanging on to the car, reports said. Reports said the car swerved, even off the road, until the woman was thrown off into the street.

Police quickly pulled the car over at North Phelps and Commerce streets, reports said.

The woman was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for minor injuries to her head, reports said.

As part of his bond, Washington is ordered to have no contact with the victim.
