YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Youngstown community gathered Saturday afternoon for a Stop the Violence Community Prayer Vigil.

The event was at Glenwood Park, close to where an 18-year-old woman was recently shot and killed.

Several different churches and community groups took part. One pastor at the event said what the community needs to do to see change with gun violence.

“It has to be sustained effort. You just can’t have an event and expect things to change. We have to have a sustained effort and people to be involved in every aspect or any aspect of the Stop the violence campaign,” Pastor Kenneth L. Simon said.

He also said the initiative needs ongoing support and they will continue to hold events.
