    Man wanted for 2021 Youngstown murder taken into custody

    YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A man wanted for a 2021 murder was taken into custody Tuesday.

    Durrell Richardson, 26, was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on a charge of aggravated murder and felonious assault.

    He was arraigned on Wednesday. Magistrate Meghan Brundege set Richardson’a bond at $1 million. He is expected to have a preliminary hearing July 10.

    Richardson was wanted for the March 5, 2021, shooting that killed Damon Irby Jr., 18.

    Irby was shot to death in the 3400 block of Market Street .

    Richardson was charged in April 2021 and was expected to turn himself in, but did not.

    Chief of Detectives Capt. Jason Simon said Wednesday that Richardson was arrested in Atlanta, Ga., last month by members of the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force and was brought back to Youngstown on Tuesday.

    Detectives at the time did not comment on a motive.
