YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The City of Youngstown announced the immediate closure of a stretch of W. Federal Street downtown.

The closing will last one to two days for sewer repairs.

It only impacts vehicle traffic between Hazel Street and S. Phelps Street. The Public Works Department says you’ll still be able to walk through the area.

Construction and closures downtown have impacted businesses in the area, but help could be coming.

The city and the regional chamber are putting together a relief fund using a $200,000 grant from the city as “seed money.”

The chamber’s foundation will now collect donations from individuals and organizations, promising 100% of the funds raised will go toward downtown businesses.
