YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The owners of the Realty Building in downtown Youngstown that sustained a gas explosion in May have submitted some of the items requested by officials to obtain permits.

Greenheart representatives partially submitted the paperwork late Friday to the Mahoning County Building Inspection Office with a promise that more will be submitted on Monday. The paperwork will be reviewed before permits are issued and any work is done on the building.

Mayor Tito Brown expressed frustration on Wednesday when at that time he had yet to see any plan from the owners to have the building taken down.

Owners say residents will be able to retrieve some items and were instructed to have a list submitted by Friday of items that will fit into a carry-on-type suitcase.

The company says any items desired to be retrieved can be listed, but larger items that would be difficult to carry through the rubble and down the stairs are more than likely to be left behind.

First responders will be retrieving the items and residents will be given time slots to get their belongings.
