    2 arrests made in weekend OVI checkpoints

    CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) — The results are in for the sobriety checkpoints that took place in Mahoning County over the weekend: two arrests were made.

    Overnight Friday, the Mahoning County OVI Task Force, along with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, conducted two checkpoints in Youngstown. Those two checkpoints — located on Glenwood Avenue and Market Street — saw 354 vehicles pass through. Twelve vehicles were directed aside for further investigation.

    According to a release from the OVI task force, two people were arrested for OVI. One of those arrests involved a fourth-degree felony charge, as it had been the suspect’s sixth OVI arrest within a 20-year period.

    The first checkpoint, located on the 3600 block of Market Street, ran from 10 p.m. to midnight. The second checkpoint was located on Glenwood Avenue near Playhouse Lane and ran from 12:30 to 3 a.m.
