An officer on patrol about 5:55 a.m. found the Jaguar SUV on the southbound ramp from Interstate 680 to the Madison Avenue Expressway. Reports said a man was looking through the windows of the SUV, but as soon as he saw a cruiser, he dived head-first into the open window of a waiting car, which drove away.

Reports said the officer checked the SUV to see if anyone was inside and radioed for a tow truck. The SUV had crash damage, reports said.

Inside, police found a .40-caliber handgun loaded with an extended magazine and another magazine, reports said.

Reports said the SUV was also connected to a shooting at about 5:20 a.m. on Manhattan Avenue on the West Side, where someone fired several shots at a home that was struck at least five times by bullets.

Reports said police found seven 9mm shell casings in the street there.

    No one was injured.
