“Spamalot” is a stage musical opening Friday at the Youngstown Playhouse. It’s based on the 1975 comedy film Monty Python and the Holy Grail and is a hilarious parody of the legendary tale of King Arthur’s quest to find the Holy Grail with his Knights of the Round Table — but with singing and dancing. Arthur travels with his servant Patsy and recruits several knights to accompany him on his quest, including Sir Robin, Sir Lancelot and Sir Galahad.

The Millennial Theater Company is putting on the show and stars all local actors and singers, which include a line of dancing girls, a flatulent Frenchman and of course, killer rabbits.

Spamalot opens on Friday, July 26, and runs for two weekends. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online, or in-person at the DeYor Performing Arts Center Box Office Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ticket are also available one hour before performances at The Youngstown Playhouse.

The cast is also performing excerpts of Spamalot on Saturday at Youngstown’s Summer Festival of the Arts at Wean Park downtown.
