YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Ohio Arts Council Board (OAC) has awarded over $12,000 in sustainability grants to Youngstown State University’s Cliffe College of Creative Arts and John J. McDonough Museum of Art.

The money was part of a $22.7 million grant statewide from OAC.

The McDonough Museum of Art has received a $12,200 grant for the fiscal year 2025, in which the OAC, a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically, describes as, “flexible and reliable funding and supports a wide range of the state’s arts providers as they make high-quality artistic experiences available to residents and visitors, positioning Ohio as a national leader in creativity, artistry, and cultural wealth.”

The John J. McDonough Museum has been an arts institution for 33 years.

According to a YSU news release, the funding granted from OAC allows the Museum to better support programs such as the Emerging Artist series, a series established to create opportunities for new and emerging visual and performing/performance artists. The funding also allows the museum to create collaborative, community-based programs.
