One dead after shootout at family gathering near elementary school in Shreveport
One person is dead after a shooting at a family gathering in central Shreveport near the campus of the now-closed Werner Park Elementary School. Police responded to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of Westover Road and Velva Street, and learned that a family gathering had been taking place near the intersection before the shooting. One victim was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, where they were pronounced dead, police said.
