FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Chris Franks, of Youngsville, will get $50,000 each year for 20 years after he participated in a second-chance drawing and won a $1 million top prize, according to an NC Education Lottery news release.

Franks found out he won the top prize in the July 3 $10 Million Spectacular Second Chance drawing when he got an email from the lottery.

There were more than 1.9 million entries in the drawing.

When Franks arrived at the lottery headquarters to collect his winnings, he had a decision to make.

He could choose to receive his prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000.

He chose the annuity option of $50,000.

After federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $35,753 in his first payment.
