FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A Fresno County public library may be closed “periodically” due to an exterior construction project, officials announced on Tuesday.

The Central Branch of the Fresno County Library in Downtown Fresno will undergo an upcoming exterior construction project, which officials say is scheduled to begin on Aug. 19.

This project will include updates to roofing, windows, and electrical outfitting. Officials say while they aim to minimize disruptions, the building may need to be closed periodically to the public for safety reasons.

All patrons are encouraged to check the Fresno Library website for the latest hours of operation.

In the meantime, officials say nearby Fresno County Public Library locations will remain open and available with regular hours of operation. Those are:

    • Mosqueda Library at 4670 E. Butler Ave., in Fresno.
    • West Fresno Library at 188 E. Cesar Chavez Blvd., in Fresno.
    • Betty Rodriguez Library at 3040 N. Cedar Ave., in Fresno.

The project, officials say, was funded by the State of California and administered by the California State Library.
