Meth kills more than fentanyl in Fresno, officials say

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Officials say while the number of deaths due to fentanyl continue to rise in Fresno County, methamphetamine is still the number one killing drug.

According to statistics provided by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office, five out of the past seven years meth has been consistently linked to more deaths than fentanyl.

Last year, meth-related deaths outnumbered fentanyl-related deaths by nearly two thirds. This year, meth-related deaths outnumber fentanyl-related deaths almost twice as much, making it the “top killing drug” in Fresno County.
