2 arrested after altercation in Walmart in Madera, police say

MADERA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Two men were arrested after officers received a report of someone with a gun in a Walmart in Madera, the Madera Police Department said.

Officers say they were dispatched to a man with a gun call in the area of a Walmart in Madera. They were informed that an altercation occurred prior to the call to dispatch and the suspect fled the scene to a nearby education facility.

Police say they were able to locate Jaxziel Paz-Gutierrez at a nearby adult school. He was in possession of a loaded unregistered firearm.

Detectives say another involved party, Jose Garcia, was located at the Learn 4 Life facility in possession of narcotics for sale. Both were taken into custody without further incident and later booked into the county jail.

According to investigators Paz-Gutierrez was booked in connection with multiple weapon-related charges due to his alleged gang affiliation, prohibited person status, and possessing the firearm on school grounds.
