Large flames to be seen in Madera: no, it’s not wildfire

MADERA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – On Saturday, some Madera residents might see large flames for a whole week -but these flames are not due to a wildfire.

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office announced a controlled, natural gas burn that will be conducted at Gill Ranch Storage in the area of Avenue 3 and Road 16 in Madera beginning Saturday and will go on at least until Aug. 23.

Sheriff’s officials say the community should expect to see large flames 24/seven during this operation, and these flames can be seen from a great distance away.

An alert will be issued once the fire is initiated.
