FRESNO, CA – The Fresno State Women’s Volleyball team is still a couple weeks away from playing its first official game of the season, but their ramping things up with an intra-squad at the save mart center.

The team is coming off a special season, which saw them make a surprising run to the Mountain West Tournament title and an appearance in their first NCAA Tournament since 2002.

“Coming off of last year, it’s great obviously, but 23 was 23, and I think now moving on to 24, we have to come in with not the same mindset of why can’t we do this, because we’ve proven that we can,” said Bulldog Senior Ella Rud. “So now I think we have a chip on our shoulder, it’s just moving forward we have to defend now, defend our title, defend our spot, and I think through all the hard work that we’ve been doing, I think it’s something that we can absolutely do”

On paper, things are setting up well. The Bulldogs return 13 players from last season, including the Mountain West Freshman of the year and the Mountain West Tournament MVP.

“I think the biggest thing is you know, we kind of have kicked off this season with a motto, earned not given, and so everything that we do right now, we have to earn the opportunity to play at a high level,” said Fresno State Volleyball head coach Leisa Rosen.
