FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A man is dead after being stabbed in east central Fresno overnight, the Fresno Police Department says.

Officers were called to the 700 block of North Chestnut Avenue, near Turner Avenue, to Martin Ray Reilly Park for a report of an injured man who was bleeding and asking for help.

They say they arrived to find an adult male suffering from several stab wounds to the upper body.

The man, who is believed to be unhoused, was transported by EMS to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

At that point, the department says, homicide detectives were called to the scene and took over the investigation.

Investigators ask if anyone has any information that could help them in this case, that they please call the department’s non-emergency line at 559-621-7000.
