TULARE COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A suspect was arrested after robbing farmworkers at gunpoint in Tulare County early Saturday morning, according to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say on Saturday, August 17, they were called out to the area of Avenue 56 and Road 236 in Ducor for a report of a carjacking around 7 a.m.

Upon arrival, deputies say they learned two farmworkers were approached by a subject armed with a shotgun while they were working. The subject demanded their property and car keys, and then took off in the victims’ car.

Deputies were able to track down the suspect in the victims’ vehicle in Alpaugh a short time later. After performing a stop on the car, the driver was taken into custody.

According to officials, several residential search warrants were served and all of the victims’ property was recovered, as well as a replica shotgun, which was used in the crime.

The suspect was booked for robbery and carjacking.
