LINDSAY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Police in the City of Lindsay say they removed five homeless encampments across the city during a community cleanup.

According to city officials, the illegal camping cleanup detail began early Saturday morning.

Officials say during the one of their cleanups an arrest was made for public intoxication and illegal alcohol consumption in the park.

In total, officials say they conducted five clean ups, during which 11 shopping carts were also retrieved and returned to local businesses.

The city says officers took the time to offer information and available resources to those experiencing transient homelessness.

The move comes after a wave of anti-camping ordinances that have swept throughout the state of California since the start of the month.
