Man dead after car found in canal near Sanger, CHP says

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A man is dead after the car he was driving was found in a canal near Sanger early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP says they responded to Rainbow and California avenues around 5:45 a.m. for reports of an overturned car in a canal. Officers say the 19-year-old who was in the driver’s seat was removed from the vehicle but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the 19-year-old driver was traveling southbound on Rainbow Avenue, south of California Avenue when he veered to the right and into the canal.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. The identity of the 19-year-old driver killed in the crash was not immediately released.
