Car in canal in Fresno County after driver loses control

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A woman is in the hospital after her vehicle went off a bridge into a canal Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say she was travelling westbound on American Avenue when she suddenly lost control of her vehicle.

The car went over a bridge and landed in a nearby canal and became completely submerged. The woman managed to get out of car and water by herself and climb embankment.

She was taken to hospital for check up, at this time no alcohol or drugs are believed to be involved.
