MADERA COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The Sheriff’s Office is warning Madera County residents after being made aware of scam calls in the county from a man alleging to be a member of the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say they have been made aware that a man has been making phone calls to residents throughout the county impersonating a Sheriff’s sergeant regarding posting bail for outstanding warrants.

Sheriff’s officials say that, according to the information provided, the man identified himself as Madera County Sergeant Noland. He makes phone calls from a 559 area code and may have a voicemail set up at the return number with the same identifying information.

The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind residents they will never request funds for personal identifying information over the phone. They warn residents this is a scam call, and encourage anyone who received calls of this nature to contact the Madera County Sheriff’s Dispatch at 559-675-7770.

    This is an ongoing investigation.
