FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A disturbance between a group of Mclane High School students on Wednesday resulted in a shooting near an Auto Zone store at Clinton and Cedar in Fresno.

“Additional law enforcement officers and resources will be present on and around campus throughout the day to help ensure the safety of the students,” Luke Tran, with the Fresno Police Department, said.

McLane High student arrested after shooting nearby, another boy still wanted

The Fresno Police Department is working alongside the Fresno Unified School District and the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office to get answers.

“The caller said that there was a large group of people, there was a disturbance and shots at rang out,” Tony Botti, with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

    No one was injured.

After investigating the scene, deputies discovered the shooting to be a result of a gang-related dispute.

“We don’t know if both of them fired or just one of them fired. But shortly after that, everybody took off in different directions,” Botti said.

A 16-year-old student was arrested and booked into juvenile hall on multiple felony charges.

“We’re working right now to try and confirm the identity of the other boy that we have an image of. So hopefully we can track him down soon and hold him accountable for this shooting as well,” said Botti.

A social media post threatening Mclane High School is also under investigation.

“It’s always important to monitor your children’s activity on social media. As a parent, it’s one of your responsibilities that also helps ensure the safety of the public,” Tran said.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is encouraged to contact the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and anyone with information regarding the threatening social media post is asked to contact the Fresno Police Department.
