VISALIA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Some drivers in Visalia might have already noticed the new traffic light installed on Lovers Lane, just south of Tulare Avenue. But what is that one for? Firefighters have the answer to this question.

The Visalia Fire Department announced on Thursday that they moved into the new Fire Station 56 on Lovers Lane, just south of Tulare Avenue. The new signal light in front of the station will help firefighters to respond faster to emergencies.

The new signal light will impact traffic both northbound and southbound traffic on Lovers Lane. According to Battalion Chief Tom Van Grouw, will remain green unless activated by emergency response.

“Just like the northbound, southbound lights will remain green unless the emergency response activation occurs in which the north and southbound will turn red and the lights coming out of the station will turn green,” he said.

The fire department advises the community to be aware of the new light and its activation.
