Get your ‘ghoul on’ with this Visalia holiday decorating contest

VISALIA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Visalians are invited to get their “ghoul on” and join the second city-wide holiday decorating contest.

The city says that residents can show off their eerie elegance, creepy creativity, and ghostly glam to win one of many categories.

The “Haunt the Home” categories are listed below:

1. Best Theme
2. Best Lights
3. Most Creative
4. Drivers’ Choice
5. Visalian’s Choice
6. Council’s Choice
7. Honorable Mentions
8. Creepy Street/Creepy Village
9. Harvest House (Fall Décor)
10. Spooktacular
11. Classic Horror
12. Haunted House

According to the city, Visalians will nominate their own home for consideration. Apartments, condos, neighborhoods and businesses will also be eligible as long as the decoration can be viewed from the street.

Nominations open on Sept 9. The city says that residents can nominate their homes and once they decorate, can send in the photos to be considered. Photos have to be submitted by Oct. 7.

Once winners are selected in a variety of categories, the city says they will share an interactive map and list of their addresses and even honorable mentions so people can drive around Visalia and have an easy way to find the best-decorated homes.
