More parking could be coming to Fresno Chaffee Zoo

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A multi-level parking structure could soon be built for visitors to Fresno Chaffee Zoo, according to documents set to be discussed at Thursday’s Fresno City Council meeting.

The “exclusive negotiating agreement” between the City of Fresno and Fresno Chaffee Zoo details a “desire to jointly undertake” improvements to the parking facilities in Roeding Park, where Fresno Chaffee Zoo is located alongside Storyland and Playland.

According to the proposal , the parking improvements to Roeding Park are “anticipated to include” as many as two multi-story parking structures.

The proposal also reveals that Fresno Chaffee Zoo intends to make its own improvements to the site, such as adding exhibits and moving administrative areas.

If approved by Fresno City Council, the agreement would negotiate the terms to “construct, operate, manage and maintain” parking improvements. It would also develop the terms of an amendment to the lease.
