CHP says for unknown reasons the big rig failed to stop, rear-ending the Chrysler and then crashing head-on with a white Nissan Altima being driven by a 31-year-old woman.

Officers say the woman driving the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the maroon Chrysler was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for evaluation and treatment. The driver of the big rig sustained no injuries.
