TULARE, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A Tulare man is dead after police found him shot inside an apartment complex Monday.

Tulare police say 36-year-old Carlos Alejandro Nevarro was shot and killed at an apartment complex just after midnight, becoming the second Tulare shooting in less than a week.

Police say they need the community’s help to find a suspect.

“We’re looking for neighbors who may have cameras. We are still actively looking for other evidence,” Sergeant Rosa Moreno with the Tulare Police Department said.

Moreno says they got a call about the shooting at the 1100 block of South Irwin Street just after midnight Monday, and when officers arrived, they found Nevarro shot to death inside an apartment.

“Our heart does go out to the family of any victim of a violent crime. We want to let the community know that we’re doing everything we can to resolve this,” Moreno said.

KSEE24/CBS47 spoke to neighbors near the location of the shooting. They did not want to be named on the record, but they say they are used to shootings in their neighborhood.

Their strategy for staying safe is to spend little time at home.

Moreno says they are still working to determine a suspect, learn the motive of the shooting, and discover whether it was gang-related.

She is sure someone in the community knows what happened, and she urges them to step forward.

“Any information, whether we think it may be related or not related, can have the potential of opening up a case. So we would like to encourage the community to give us a call if they have anything that they remotely think may be related to this investigation,” Moreno said.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation should contact Detective Vince Medina at 559-685- 2300 ext. 2140.
