    IDENTIFIED: Motorcyclist dead on side of highway in Prather

    PRATHER, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The motorcyclist who died on the side of a Prather highway after people attempted to perform life-saving measures on Monday has been identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

    The Coroner’s Office says the man was identified as 60-year-old Robert Putnam of Fresno.

    Motorcyclist death prompts investigation in Prather

    According to the California Highway Patrol, on Monday they received a call around 3:15 p.m. in the area of Highway 168 and Coffeberry Lane after oncoming vehicles reported seeing smoke and a motorcycle on the side of the road.

    Prior to CHP’s arrival, they say motorists attempted to provide life-saving measures, but Putnam was pronounced dead on the scene.

    This is an ongoing investigation.
