    Tulare County calls for Newsom to declare state of emergency on Coffee Pot Fire

    TULARE COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The County of Tulare is calling for Governor Gavin Newsom’s aid in declaring a state of emergency as the Coffee Pot Fire continues to grow.

    The Coffee Pot Fire was first ignited on Aug. 3 by lighting in a remote area. The fire continues to burn and as of Tuesday it currently encompasses 11,953 acres in total. Following the month-long burn, Cal Fire reports they have contained 17% of it.

    On Tuesday, the Tulare County Director of Emergency Services proclaimed a local emergency due to the dangerous threats the fire poses.

    Coffee Pot Fire reaches the east fork of Kaweah River, spot fires erupt

    As the fire almost 12,000 acres large continues to burn, the Tulare County Sheriff has issued evacuation orders for the following Genasys zones :

    • TLC-E094-B
    • TLC-E094-C
    • TLC-E094-D
    • TLC-E094-E

    Additionally, evacuation warnings have been issued for these Genasys zones :

    • TLC-E095
    • TLC-E093-A
    • TLC-E093-B
    • TLC-E127-B
    • TLC-E128-A
    • TLC-E128-B

    As a result, the county has requested California Governor Gavin Newsom to proclaim Tulare County to be in a State of Emergency and have the state provide aid, including money and resources.
