    Firefighters injured while battling Boone Fire near Coalinga

    FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Two firefighters were injured while battling the Boone Fire near the City of Coalinga on Tuesday, Cal Fire says.

    Fire personnel say the firefighter received minor injuries and has been taken to a local hospital for treatment. On Tuesday night, fire officials said another firefighter was wounded and also received treatment for minor injuries. No civilian injuries have been reported.

    ‘Boone Fire’ burns over 11,000 acres in Fresno County

    According to officials, the fire erupted shortly after noon in the area of Highway 198 and Boone Lane, just 10 miles west of Coalinga. The fire department says Highway 198 is closed at Firestone Avenue and asks drivers to avoid the area while crews respond to the scene.

    Cal Fire mapped the blaze at 3,068 acres as of 6:30 p.m. Tuesday; containment has not yet been reported. Crews say the fire is burning through grass and brush on the north side of the highway at a moderate rate of speed.
