    ‘Boone Fire’ burns almost 17,000 acres in Fresno County

    FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The Boone Fire has burned almost 17,000 acres as of Thursday afternoon – and remains at 5% contained

    The Boone Fire started Tuesday afternoon in the Los Gatos Creek area, which features a lot of open land and few homes.

    Officials with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office say they have identified approximately three dozen homes that are in the path of the fire. Evacuation orders have been issued to those living in the area, although some residents chose to stay in their homes, deputies say.

    New evacuation order issued for Boone Fire

    Cal Fire says dry conditions and high winds of up to 25 mph are expected to persist in the afternoons. Firefighters are dealing with steep and rugged terrain and access is difficult.

    Cal Fire says two firefighters received minor injuries and have been taken to a local hospital for treatment. On Tuesday night, fire officials said another firefighter was wounded, receiving treatment for minor injuries.

    A total of three firefighters have been injured, but no civilian injuries have been reported.
