MADERA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A man has been arrested after being found intoxicated and passed out inside a vehicle in front of an Auto Zone in Madera, the Madera Police Department said.

Officers say they contacted 38-year-old Douglas Cheslik on Thursday, who was found passed out in his vehicle parked in front of an Auto Zone in Madera.

Police say Cheslik was determined to be under the influence of narcotics and was ultimately placed under arrest. However, during a search of his vehicle, an unregistered firearm with two different caliber uppers was located. Both types of caliber ammunition were also located inside the vehicle.

Investigators say Cheslik is a convicted felon which prohibits him from possessing firearms and ammunition. He was later booked into the Madera County Jail in connection with multiple weapons and narcotics charges.
