FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Officials with Fresno County are requesting input from the county’s rural communities so they can advocate for better and affordable internet infrastructure.

County officials say starting Monday, they will be seeking input from residents living in Biola, Calwa, Cantua, Creek, Caruthers, Firebaugh, Huron, Lanare, Mendota, Orange Cove, Parlier, Raisin City, Three Rocks, Tranquility, West Park and Westside.

Residents will have the chance to provide input through a survey. According to county officials, the survey will assess how frequently and where residents and businesses currently access the internet and gauge their interest in adopting improved service if available. It will also gather information on types of training, resources and workshops that could be beneficial for the community.

The results would then be shared with federal and state government agencies, which officials say will allow them to advocate for better internet infrastructure and resources and actively pursue grants for improved and affordable internet service.

Officials say a link and QR code for the survey will be provided through social media and will be featured on the Fresno County website home page, as well as distributed to community leaders in unincorporated areas and at outreach events. For residents without access to technology, the survey can be completed using computers available at the Fresno County Public Library. For information on library locations, click here.

According to county officials, the survey will close within the first seven days of October.
