FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Mendota residents will be able to get support with energy, health and other services with the new opening of a resource center, the Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission announced.

A ribbon-cut ceremony was held for the new center on Wednesday. Officials say the new Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission Resource Center located at 121 Belmont Avenue within the AMOR Wellness Center in Mendota aims to support residents with over 30 services such as energy, health and dental services.

“We know transportation can be a barrier for families to access services. Our goal is to bring
the services to them by providing assistance locally. This resource center is part of our
commitment to serving our rural communities and providing support and programs to lift
people out of poverty,” said Emilia Reyes, Fresno EOC’s CEO.

According to officials, other services that the center will provide include health and wellness, early education, employment and training, and legal services. Fresno EOC provides Head Start services for 60 children in Mendota, and says they will be expanding to provide early childhood education for children up to three years old.

“I think this is the beginning of something beautiful, this is the beginning of investment in
rural communities,” said Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria. “If these families thrive,
    the entire community will thrive.”

The hours for the new Fresno EOC Resource Center in Mendota will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents can call 559-588-4040 for more information about services.
