1 dead, another hospitalized after Fresno shooting

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A man is dead and another was hospitalized after a shooting in southwest Fresno Saturday afternoon, the Fresno Police Department announced.

Police say around 2:30 p.m. they responded to a report of a gunshot victim who was not breathing inside a vehicle near Nicholas Avenue and F Street. While en route they were notified of another victim.

Upon arrival, responding officers reported an unresponsive man in his early 20s with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. EMS arrived shortly and pronounced him deceased.

Investigators also located the second gunshot victim who was suffering from an injury to his lower extremities. He was transported to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

Police have not released any suspect information.

Homicide detectives are actively working to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
