Investigators determined a big rig hauling pistachios was traveling east on Highway 180 approaching Hayes Avenue just as a sedan approached the intersection.

Fore reason yet to be determined, the woman, identified by the coroner as 61-year-old Gretchen Scotia of Fresno, drove directly in the path of the semi-truck. Scotia was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the big rig remained on scene and detectives do not believe drugs or alcohol are a factor in the collision.
