    He’s retiring after 33 years with the Fresno Fire Department

    FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) –  After serving 33 years with the Fresno Fire Department, a fire captain is hanging up his helmet for retirement.

    Captain Gary Wedemeyer was described by the department as the most senior member of Fresno Fire, having served the city for over 33 years.

    “Thank you for over three decades of service and dedication. We wish you well on your next adventure,” wrote the Fresno Fire Department on social media.

    The Fresno Fire Department says they have 371 sworn firefighters, 27 sworn non-safety, and 28 civilians for a total of 426 positions.
