FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Fresno Police officers are asking for the public’s assistance after a man is seen on video getting kicked repeatedly in the head outside a business in the city’s Tower District late August.

Police say around 2 a.m. on Aug. 26, they responded to 936 East Olive Avenue after receiving a 9-1-1 call regarding an unhoused man sleeping in front of a business that had been physically assaulted.

Responding officers reported a 47-year-old man who was conscious but suffering from significant injuries to the head. He was transported to a local hospital to undergo treatment.

Investigators say all the victim could recall was that he was asleep and suddenly awoke to being repeatedly struck on his head. The 9-1-1 caller was located and told officers the suspect had fled eastbound on Olive Avenue.

Detectives from the Street Violence Bureau conducted an investigation and retrieved surveillance from a nearby business that captured the assault— however, a suspect has not been identified.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect in the video or any information about this case is asked to contact Fresno Police Detective Guadalupe Olague at 559-287-3921.
