    Vacant 99 Cents Only Store catches on fire in Fresno

    FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Firefighters prevented further damage to a vacant 99 Cents Only Store in Fresno after a fire broke out in the building on Tuesday.

    According to the Fresno Fire Department, at around 10:45 a.m., crews were dispatched to a vacant 99 Cents Only Store on East Cesar Chavez Boulevard near Willow Avenue.

    Firefighters say several people called 911 reporting smoke and flames coming from the roof.

    Upon arrival, firefighters started to extinguish the fire and as a precaution, the adjacent businesses had to be temporarily evacuated.

    According to Fresno Fire, a total of 33 fire personnel responded to the emergency and had the fire controlled within 15 minutes. No injuries were reported.

    The fire was contained to the corner of the roof. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
